I have recently been contemplating selling all my gear (Pass amp, BAT preamp and Luxman DAC) and buying the Vinni Rossi set up that I heard at Axpona this year.

I would go with the VR Lio modular amp, tube preamp and DAC all in one with the Harbeth Speakers. That system just sounded so good. My system is more dynamic, has more detail, resolution and bass but to have an all in one modular system that just blew my socks off is very appealing. It would be a huge change in going from panel speakers and a high power amp and world class preamp.

Mechnutt,

So let me get this straight.... You heard a system that connects you to the music in a way that your current system does not, and this system is well within your financial grasp. I don't see what the problem is...? Considering Major Change (2) Considering Major Change (3)

Seriously though, there's a lot to be said about system synergy. There's also a lot to be said about supporting small companies that churn out excellent products! The only food for thought that I'll throw your way is to ponder over resale value. As good as these products can be, the resale value from small manufacturers like Red Wine / Vinnie Rossi tends to be, well, pretty bad. If you ultimately decide to travel down this path, just be aware of what you're getting into should you ever decide to sell off the gear one day.

Vinnie Rossi - LIO Modular Audio System

I agree. That truly was one of the most musical rooms. My CONCERN is the power of the Lio. Harbeth's need a little bit of power. As long as you're not attempting to rock out at 110db, you should be fine though.

The low power of the LIO is a concern. Vinni is working on a higher powered amp. I am going to see how that plays out. There was just so much that sounded right in the Axpona system. I have also considered going with a Conrad Johnson ET-3se preamp and an MF amp but I have to hear that combo. I bet that they would sound great with those Harbeths. I am just thinking out loud and I am not going to make any rash decisions. Especially since I am considering buying a 2013 Boss 302 Mustang with only 5K miles on it for about $38K.

It was the Super HL5 Plus speakers that Vinni Rossi had at the show. That room and the Bricasti with the Tidal speakers had a lasting impression on me. Both rooms just hit me in the heart and mind. There were rooms that did some things better, but overall these 2 rooms did it for me. I walked in and immediately had a big smile on my face and I could have sat and listened the whole day. Listening was just so easy and enjoyable. Even my friends thought that these 2 rooms were spectacular.

That's how I felt when I first heard Strads many years ago. You HAVE to go with your heart. That's where the music lives.

What ever makes you happy getting rid of ton of cords and a nice neat system is a good thing IMO. Never heard this system so no idea how it sounds.

My heart goes with the $55,00 Bricasti-Tidal room but my wallet says go with the $12,000 Vinni Rossi Harbeth gear.

And my fun factor says go with the Boss 302 Mustang 6 spd Manual, over 440 ponies, 380 pound-feet of torque and 0-60 in 4 seconds, faster around Laguna Seca than the BMW M3.

I understand how you feel. If I could find something equivalant to my pre/amp combo I would consider it. I am looking at this, but it is way overkill at 2500w/ch @ 4 ohms. Not to mention, a bit expensive.

That looks awesome!

I'd love to hear it. Oh, and no such thing as overkill Considering Major Change (11)

I'm in the same situation my heart says go with Avantgarde Duo and Kondo pre but my pocket says go with the Bose 321. Lol.

I had the Maggie's 1.7 and all Harbeth lines. It will be different than your current set up. I will be very interest to know your decision. Please update with us. [emoji4]
